Super Heroic Movies

In the run up to the Wolverine movie, Mista' Christa has been asking fellow dude-bros: what is your pre-screen rating (having not yet seen the movie)? He says his is 3/10 and hopes it can't possibly be any worse. This prompted another Mista' from Peaks to question what such a rating really means. In the scheme of things, we felt it useful to provide subjective schema with which to gauge the Super Hero mega blockbuster. Here are my ratings of the Marvel/DC universe parts I've yet been exposed to, perhaps with explanation to follow in the comments section, should others join the discush:

X-Men 2 - 10
Superman - 10
Superman 2 - 8
X-Men 1 - 7
Spiderman - 6
Spiderman 2 - 5
Watchmen - 5
Iron Man - 4
Hulk (Ang Lee) - 4
Batman - 4
Batman Begins - 4
Batman: The Dark Knight - 4
X-Men 3 - 3
Spiderman 3 - 3
Superman 3 - 2
Superman Returns - 2
Batman Returns - 2
Batman Forever - 1
Batman and Robin - 1
Superman 4 - 0

Mr. Chovez vs. Mr. Danjyer

Hello outside world! What has been going on in the M.K. corner of the O.V.? I was going to write something about Hugo Chavez because me and Chris have been imitating his hilarious yet right-on-the-money screeds on his Aló Presidente TV show. But I couldn't help being boring about it, so suffice it to say, he's the Left's answer to George W. Bush: a President who's crazy enough to do whatever he wants whenever he wants (but to help the poor instead of the rich).

The O.V. was poppin' with activity this weekend. Home Run Derby, Quasars, pay-by-the-hour hot tubs, and the obligatory Carrie Yoke. Topics for discussion included: Puns, how they work, and where they belong in the world of comedy, and trying to figure out the ways in which we want to do better than our parents. Also apparently the block has come to a decision on our little six-pack co-op: they love us.

I'm trying to find my place on this new blog, and I think I'll test out Provider of Links. Here are my finds for the week:

1. Thanks to Nick for the Wolverine leak.
2. Thanks to Dembowski for this little bit of Chicago's Davinci Code.

Pop-ins are open. Please come by: if there's not something fun going on when you get there, we are adept at creating fun on the spot.
